I have overcome
Text: John 16:33
These sweet words that our Savior spoke have such a powerful meaning to those of us that are weary. Our Father God knew that we would become weary, faint, and lose heart.
He has known from the beginning of time that we must take rest from the battle. Victoria discussed early on in our study how God does not grow weary. Never! He never gets tired, He never needs rest. In our main passage for this study, Isaiah 40:28-31, it states the very fact that God does not grow weary. And here in John 16:33 we find that Jesus tells us, his followers, that we can find peace in Him because He has overcome the world. We don’t have to do it! It is Jesus who has overcome the world and we can find rest in Him because He has already defeated it!
Maybe today you find yourself in a battle. Maybe you just came out of one (I’m certain another is just around the corner). Wherever you find yourself today, remember that God sees it! He sees your battle, He is with you in the battle, He doesn’t grow weary and He has already won! AMEN! So praise Him for being the overcomer, no matter where you are in the battle.
Wendy Pope said this, “I praise you before the battle so we can celebrate after the victory.”
Find rest today my weary friend because He has overcome the world!
