Delight in the Law~
Today we are going to meditate on Romans 7:22, “For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.”
Do we really delight in His Laws? Sure it’s easy to delight in His forgiveness, mercy and never ending love. But delighting in the things that go against our flesh can be difficult. Do you delight in showing love to an annoying neighbor? Do you delight in tithing all the time when your bank account is getting low? Do you delight in tithing when there’s a fabulous outfit at the mall that you just have to have? Do you delight in not telling a white lie when it’s going to keep you out of trouble? If you’re honest with yourself, you probably aren’t delighting yourself in His laws when it gets down to the nitty-gritty stuff.
It’s difficult! Especially when you’re stuck behind a lady going 15 under the speed limit and you’re already running late. Do I always delight in that? Absolutely not, it’s incredibly frustrating! But that is the law of the Lord. The Lord put in place those laws too that we are to obey.
The word delight in this passage means this: Satisfaction, contentment, completeness, DESIRE TO! Do we desire to obey the Lord? IN EVERY APSECT? Are we content to follow His laws, even though they may not be convenient or fun? Do we desire to honor our husband and respect him even though he’s driving us crazy and can’t seem to load the dishwasher right?
Being content to live in the Lord’s law is a journey. Meditate today on your inward attitude towards HIS laws and the guidelines that HE has put in place for our lives.
