The Lord delights in us
Deuteronomy 10:15 “The Lord delighted only in your fathers, to love them; and He choose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day.”
We’ve been talking about how to find delight in the Lord and His laws. Today we will talk about the Lord finding delight in us! How do you think the Lord finds delight in us? WHEN WE OBEY! Not just with our actions, but with our heart, mind and soul. When our entire being resonates God’s love and we follow His laws because we want to and have a desire too, He finds delight in us!
This principle sounds like a catch-22. If we delight in Him then He will delight in us, but we all know that this is not how it works. The Lord loves us and delights in us because we are His children. His love isn’t conditional on our obedience thankfully!
The word delight, in this verse, means “ to love, elliptically”. When I first heard the word elliptically my thought was of an elliptical machine at the gym. This has no bearing on the meaning of the word though. What this passage is saying is “The Lord loved us, blocking out everything else.” He was solely focused on us!
Do we love like that? Is our love for Christ or others solely focused?
I challenge you today to focus on finding delight in others
and being the kind of believer that the Lord will delight in!
