Delight Wrap Up
Jeremiah 9: 23-24 “Thus says the Lord; “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” Says the Lord.”
The word delight in this passage is the same Hebrew word from day 11, which means, “to be pleased with, desire, to find pleasure in.”
What this passage is saying is for men (all humans) not to glory in their own way. Not in their own wisdom, not in their own might or money, but rather let him glory in the LORD! Let man glory in understanding that the Lord is loving and righteous. The Lord delights in those who do this!
This seems pretty simple. Take a look at your average daily life though. Do you get excited in yourself or in the Lord more often? When you get everything crossed off your to-do list do you praise yourself or the Lord? When you get asked to fill a prestigious roll in church do you pat yourself on the back for being awesome, or give thanks to the Lord for giving you the opportunity to let Him shine through your service? Where do your glories lie?
Ultimately that’s what this study is in a nutshell. Where do your glories lie? If they lie in you and your capabilities then there’s no way that you could possibly delight in the Lord.
Focus on the LORD today. Find things to thank Him for. Find attributes to praise Him for!
Our verse from day 1 was Psalm 37:4 that says “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
