I have been listening to this beautiful song on the radio by Jonny Diaz called “Breathe.” And I am in love with the lyrics. There is one line that sticks out to me in an unexplainable, could only be God speaking, way. “Let your weary spirit rest, lay down whats good and find whats best.” Oh my!
I am in a season of life right now where I am trying so hard to make good decisions that I feel that I am failing at the best decisions. A couple years ago I read the book, “The Best Yes” by Lysa TerKeurst. I love the concept that she spoke of in this book. There are many things can be good for us. Many decisions we make can be “good” but what is “best?” God is asking us to only take the best, not just the good. And while the decision to go to work is not a bad decision for the stay at home mom, is it the best decision? Does it help your family, your children, your spouse in more ways than financially? Does accepting the responsibility to teach a mid-week Bible study make sense for your family when you add that to the Sunday school class, children’s church and nursery volunteer work that you already do? Do you really need your child involved in a second or third extra curricular activity? What “good” priorities are we placing above the “best” ones that God has for us? Let me tell you that the “best” decision you can make at anytime is to spend time with our heavenly Father. “Rest at my feet. Chaos calls but all you really need is to just breathe. Just breathe.”
Don’t settle for just the good in life, lets find whats BEST ladies!
